Play Responsibly: Our Commitment to Player Protection
1. Our Commitment to Responsible Gaming
Responsible gaming is one of the principles of the Winbox platform. Our determination is to establish a safe and regulated environment where players will be able to enjoy online entertainment without fear. We are also aware that gaming is supposed to be a fun activity but we also know that to some people it can stop being a fun activity. As a result, the well-being of our user community is our top priority, and we offer services that allow empowering people to maintain control over their gaming processes. The contents in this page are aimed at providing the user with the necessary tools, resources, and formal support systems needed to ensure positive and enjoyable gameplay experiences.
2. Tools to Help You Stay in Control
Our site provides a set of proactive tools, which allow you to control your gaming habits directly through your account. These features are available at all times in your account settings.
Limit Deposits
Be in control of your spending by setting a limit on how much you can deposit to your account. The limits of deposits can be daily, weekly or monthly. When you hit your limit set, then you will not be able to deposit any more until the set period is over.
Put Time Limits
Monitor the time you use in playing the game by setting a limit on the sessions. The system will remind you when you have achieved the set interval, and this will help you keep track of your gaming time.
Take a Break (Cool-Off Period)
In case you need a short break in the game, you can use our Take a Break option, which will temporarily disable your account 24 hours, 7 days, or 1 month. This cool-off period will not allow you to log in or play.
Self-Exclusion
In case of the people who require a more extended absence, we provide the self-exclusion option. This makes it easy to ban a user on the platform within a long period of time like 6 months, 1 year, or permanently. Your account will be closed during the self-exclusion period and we will take all reasonable steps to ensure that no other account is created.
3. Tips for Playing Smart
The key to being able to continue enjoying the world of gaming is to be prudent and rational. The next suggestions provide effective tips on how to maintain control and have a positive experience:
- Treat gaming as a form of entertainment, not a means of getting money. Any money spent must be considered, as a buying of leisure, like buying a cinema ticket.
- Bet with money that you can afford to lose. Do not gamble with money that should be used to pay vital bills like rent, utilities, or to feed.
- Never make an effort to recover losses; that will always increase the original loss. Embrace the fact that losing is part and parcel of competition.
- Keep a close watch on time and related spending. The thrill of play may blur time and money. Be cautious of the time and money involved in the sessions.
- Combine gaming activities with other complementary activities. Make sure that there is no one pursuit that overrides the others; a balanced life promotes a healthy lifestyle.
- Do not engage when upset, irritable, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Emotional or drunken decisions are rarely recommendable.
4. Do You Need Help? (Self-Assessment)
Are you worried about your gambling? Then we suggest that you answer the following questions honestly. This is an informal self-evaluation aimed at promoting thinking about recent behaviour.
- Have you ever been in a situation where you have been betting more than you can actually afford to lose?
- Have you started feeling the urge to bet bigger amounts of money to achieve the same amount of excitement?
- Have you ever attempted to recover your losses by making more bets?
- Have you ever borrowed money, sold personal possessions to finance more gambling?
- Have you ever hidden your betting behavior to your family or friends?
- Have you ever had problems with your gambling in your personal or work life, including relationship problems or work problems?
In case you have said yes to one or more of these questions, it might be the time to seek professional help. They can be supported by the resources described in the next section.
5. Seeking help and support
One should consider seeking help as a sign of strength. In case your own gambling behaviour no longer seems to be under your control, or you are worried about a friend or relative, free and confidential advice and support is available through a number of professional bodies.
In Malaysia, the following organizations are offered
- Gamblers Anonymous Malaysia: A group of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other to solve a common problem and help others to recover their gambling disorders. Go to findahelpline.com/countries/my/topics/gambling.
- SOLACE Sabah: Provides counselling and support services on various addictions including problem gambling. Go to www.solaceasia.org.
The following services are available internationally
- GamCare: A major provider of information, advice and support to people experiencing problems with gambling. Go to www.gamcare.org.uk.
- Gambling Therapy: An international online support service that provides advice in various languages to people negatively impacted by gambling. Go to www.gamblingtherapy.org.
- BeGambleAware: Free, confidential advice and support to anyone worried about their gambling or that of someone they know. Go to www.begambleaware.org.
6. Preventing Underage Gambling
Winbox does not allow any individual below the age of 18 to open an account and/or participate in any gambling activities. The company regards this issue seriously.
Age-verification is performed on all customers, using a combination of automated and manual Know Your Customer (KYC) methods to establish both age and identity. Any account that is found to have been opened or used by a minor is closed with immediate effect and any winnings lost.
The firm is also keen on urging the parents to avoid underage activity by installing filtering software such as Net Nanny and CyberPatrol to prevent access to gambling sites by under age users. Parents are also encouraged to store log in details safely and not accessible to children.
